Thermax Insulation

Thermax™ brand insulation is polyisocyanurate rigid board insulation with an R-value of 6.5 per inch. This product has FM 4880 class 1 wall and ceiling approval for fire exposure and can be left exposed in both the wall and ceiling providing a nice aesthetically pleasing look to the interior as well as increasing energy efficiency. Thermax™ Sheathing and Thermax™ Insulation/Finish Boards, including White Finish Light Duty, Heavy Duty and Heavy Duty Plus, are all manufactured to meet the following specifications. Compliance to ASTM C-1289-06 “Standard Specifications for Faced Rigid Cellular Polyisocyanurate Thermal Insulation Board”, Type 1, Class 2 and Federal; Specification HH-I-1972/1, Class 2. Type 1 means Faced with Aluminum foil on both major surfaces of the foam core. Class 2 means

 

Glass fiber reinforced core foam for dimensional stability. Unlike other foam insulations Thermaxcan be used without gypsum Thermal barrier for fire protection.

What Thermax™ is not…

  • Thermax™ is NOT a 15 minute thermal barrier
  • Thermax™ is NOT a structural sheathing
  • Thermax™ can NOT replace gypsum wall board or Densglass in approved fire rated or hourly rated assemblies because Thermaxis NOT a thermal barrier. However, Thermaxcan be used in conjunction with these products in many time rated assemblies
  • Thermax™ is NOT a replacement for duct insulation Thermax is NOT to be used in plenum areas that are used for air return ventilation unless ducting is used per code then Thermax can be left exposed in the plenum

THERMAX

THERMAX Sheathing Insulation / Finish Boards are recommended for exposed applications for wall/roofs, attics, ducted plenums and/or ceilings in agricultural, commercial and industrial buildings such as factories, warehouses, agricultural structures, parking garages, mercantile establishments, aircraft hangers, cold storage structures, tennis courts, skating rinks, swinmming pools, etc.

THERMAX isNOT to be used in plenum areas that are used as air return ventilation nor is it a replacmement for duct insulation.
