Armstrong ShortSpan™ Drywall Grid Systems – Faster, Easier, Better Solution And Is Now Fire Rated!

The self-locking ShortSpan™ Drywall Grid System has been a quick hit with contractors because it simplifies drywall framing over short spans by eliminating screws, cross tees and hanger wires in most applications. And, the system just got better, because it is now fire rated! UL Fire Ratings can be achieved with just one layer of fire-rated gypsum board! Traditional framing systems often require two layers of gypsum board to meet the two-hour separation. The bottom line is reduced labor and material costs for the contractor.

Here are the benefits: Span Hospital Corridors with Ease – The National Hospital Corridor Spec calls for an 8’4” width. The ShortSpan System can meet the required fire ratings by simply placing Strongback™ support elements down the mid-point of the ShortSpan tees and then wiring them to the structure on 48” centers. Confidence in Code Compliance – Fire Rated ShortSpan is approved on most UL designs that include DFR 8000 (Armstrong Drywall Grid Systems). Remember: most stud and track applications are tested for fire ratings on vertical walls, not on horizontal

ceilings! Fire Rated ShortSpan components include 8’, 10’, 12’ and 14’ tees, 12’ locking angle moldings and 12’ StrongBack supports.

TechZone™ Ceiling Systems

The days of the cluttered ceilings are gone. Now there’s the TechZone Ceiling system, the industry’s first system that organizes lighting fixtures, air diffusers and sprinkler heads in a narrow, linear technical “zone” to create a cleaner ceiling visual.
No New or Special Installation Required – TechZone ceiling systems are installed using standard Suprafine™, Interlude or Prelude grid components.  The key difference is that main beams should be installed perpendicular to the technical “zones.”

The totally integrated system uses only standard ceiling elements. By partnering with leading lighting diffuser and sprinkler manufacturers, Armstrong is able to

provide a system that uses standard ceiling and grid components but offers a custom look. It also reduces the long lead times, installation hassles and costs associated with locally fabricated or custom materials to achieve a similar look.

Eliminates Ceiling Penetrations – The new TechZone system eliminates the need for penetrations in the ceiling panels, making them easier to install as well as more aesthetically pleasing. Maintenance hassles and potential panel damage are also limited since all technical services are housed in the “zone”.
