Armstrong Exterior Metal Ceiling is Hurricane Tested Armstrong’s MetalWorks Exterior Vector ceiling system answers the need for an accessible exterior ceiling system with proven performance. The vector ceiling edge detail allows for the metal ceiling panels to lock onto the grid system yet be accessed by pushing the panels against the integral springs to disengage the grid system. The metal panels install on a standard tee bar system that is braced for wind uplift. The MetalWorks Vector system has been tested up to a UL Class 90. A Class 90 rating equates to about a 180 mph wind force. Several installations were tested by a series of hurricanes in Florida in 2004, and then in 2005 by hurricane Katrina. Not a single panel was affected by the storms. Because the system uses standard tee bar construction, it can be installed in a fraction of the time it takes to install a comparable stucco ceiling system. This system works well in applications like drive-through areas, verandas, covered galleries, covered parking garages, and vestibules. Because there is an indoor version of this ceiling, it can also be used to carry the same visual from interior spaces to exterior spaces. In addition to White, Silver Grey, and Gun Metal Grey, Armstrong introduced a wood visual on the MetalWorks vector panels. Now, you can have an exterior 2 x 2 wood look ceiling that has all the same features of the metal look panels. To find out more about the installation details, you can go to: |
